Huzzah! My first writing blitz is completed. Now I can post it!

But first-- a few things.

My only rule here at the Adore community is that you don't criticize. This is a NaNoWriMo novel for Pete's sake, not a masterpiece! It's all about quantity over quality and that is a concept I am really really having trouble with. Because the thing is-- I'm not a writer. I'm an editor. So trying to get rid of my inner-editor is extra difficult to begin with. I cannot have other people bringing me down as well.

Also, I feel I should mention the plot of Adore. It's really your basic love story: Girl meets Boy. Boy is a budding, charismatic cult leader. Drama ensues. Yes, there will be swearing. Yes, there will be some violence. Yes, there will eventually be sex. All kinds of fun adult content. If you are sensitive to such things DO NOT READ. Furthermore, alternative forms of spirituality will be discussed at length. Wicca and Satanism will definitely be making their appearances, and here's the thing: They're not all that bad. (I only use the world "cult" in summaries because eventually the public within the novel... ah, well, you'll see once I write it!) If you do not have an open mind to alternative spiritualities I again advise you strongly DO NOT READ.

That out of the way, I can begin talking about the format. It's pretty simple actually. Adore is the diary of my main character, protagonist, and narrator, April Callahan as she enters her freshman year of college. The diary will be "published" after April is much older than the narrating diary-April. Older-April will be providing commentary and analysis throughout the book, particularly after very important entries, but I don't think I'll be writing the Older-April bits during NaNoWriMo. Now is the time strictly for diary-April. (This makes it easier on us both the writer and the reader. TRUST ME.)

So, without further ado, I give you the first chunk of ADORECollapse )

Check back soon for more! And HAPPY NANOWRIMO ALL!!!!!

I never did get around to posting pre-novel planning information, did I? Also, I'm a bit late starting but I have to tell you: October was a fiendishly hellishly busy month for me. I'm still swamped with makeup work and the like but I said screw it and began writing at around 10PM or so on November 1st. It's around 1AMish November 2nd and I'm still only at 1,000 words so I am a bit behind but I'm not done for the night just yet. Simply taking a break.

I'm noticing that if I take a break between every 500 words it actually goes much smoother. And yeah, okay so the more recent bits of writing are way too convoluted and dull it doesn't matter. IT DOES NOT MATTER TO ME!!!! It's NaNoWriMo! Huzzah for qauntity over quality! HUZZAH!

Anyways, once I have finished the needed 1,667 words I will post again. Scout's Honor or somesuch. For now, you all shall have to entertain yourselves with the soundtrack to my noveling.

On my iTunes it's a playlist called "Ridiculously Romantic" (yes, a QaF reference, I know!) and really, the playlist is a collection of the 41 most romantic, most epic, most tragic, most appropriate music for this novel called Adore. Unfortunately, the only order I have it in is alphabetical by song title. Someday I have dreams of putting it in some kind of chronological order according to plot. (Plot? What Plot?!)

So, here it is: Ridiculously RomanticCollapse )

Now it's almost 1:30. Time to get back to writing. Wish me luck!

So, in the profile page, when I said I'd be updating the community with an actual entry of content this weekend, I actually meant "as soon as I possibly get the chance" and really, I don't know when that'll be. It could be sometime tomorrow night or possibly later. Please, continue to stay tuned! And in the meantime, check out the prettiful layout and icons and graphics made by gypsyicons.

The young lady in all of these graphics is an actress named Azura Skye. I'll be using her face for Adore's main character, April Callahan. The strapping young lad is Nick Miller, an actor from New Zealand. I'll be using his face for April's romantic interest in Adore, Hewitt Calix.

Oooh, look! You kinda' almost got actual content there. Neat, huh?
